How much is delivery?

Portess deliver locally for free.

Will you assemble my furniture?

Of course, we will always assemble your new furniture in the room of your choice (Unless agreed otherwise). We do ask that you ensure the space in which your new items are going is clear and that the route is clear also.

Can you dispose my old furniture?

We offer a convenient disposal service for your old mattress, divan, and bed frame at a charge of £25 per bed. This fee is payable at the time of ordering your new bed. Regrettably, we are unable to dispose of upholstery; however, numerous charitable organizations like the Furniture Project are available to assist you, provided the fire labels are intact. Alternatively, you may opt to sell your old furniture through platforms like eBay, Facebook, or local advertisement boards. If all else fails, your local council typically offers collection and disposal services for old furniture, albeit for a fee.

How far do you deliver?

Providing a free delivery service, our company policy is to group deliveries together to make them as economically viable as possible. We currently deliver in the areas of Melton Mowbray, Oakham, Nottingham, Leicester, Grantham, Market Harborough and Stamford. However we have travelled further a field when we have other deliveries on route or nearby. Please ask to see whether we will deliver to you.

When do you deliver?

We currently deliver and fit carpets throughout the week, Monday to Friday. However if the item is small enough to fit into a member of staffs car, we can drop it off ourselves at the weekend if required.

Will I need to stay at home all day to take delivery?

If you need a specific delivery time, we'll make every effort to accommodate your request. However, please understand that factors like traffic and unforeseen circumstances can affect delivery schedules, making it challenging to guarantee an exact time. Kindly inform us at the time of ordering if you require a specific time slot, and we'll do our best to meet your needs.

Can I collect from store?

We warmly encourage customers to collect their purchases from either of our shops. To ensure a smooth experience, we kindly request that you provide us with as much advance notice as feasible. This allows us to efficiently arrange for the item to be prepared, retrieved from our warehouse, and properly checked and wrapped for safe transport before your arrival.

What time are your shops open?

Oakham - Tuesday to Saturday 0830-1300 1400-1700

Melton Mowbray - Tuesday to Saturday 0830-1700

Do your products come with a guarantee?

All our products are accompanied by the mandatory 1-year guarantee against faulty manufacturing as per statutory requirements. Additionally, various manufacturers offer different warranties and guarantees, which can be tailored to your needs and preferences. We're happy to discuss these options with you at the time of placing your order.

I have an issue with something I bought from Portess, what should I do?

At Portess, we take great pride in our service. If you have any uncertainties or are dissatisfied with any aspect of your purchasing journey or the product itself, please don't hesitate to contact us. We are dedicated to assisting you. In the event of a faulty product covered by guarantee, our process involves initial inspection followed by determining the optimal resolution to address the issue.

What type of flooring do you do?

At Portess, we offer professional measurement and installation services for a wide range of flooring options, including carpets (both domestic and commercial), carpet tiles, and vinyl flooring. Our experienced team ensures precision and quality in every installation, catering to both residential and commercial needs.

I want a new carpet, how should I go about this?

We have all types of carpets at Portess. We hold discounted carpets on the rolls for immediate fitting and have hundreds of sample books that we can talk you through. Contact us by phone or email, or pop into either shop. Portess can then organise a suitable date and time for one of our flooring experts to come to your home with samples and measure up the relevant areas.

Do you contract flooring work out?

We have 2 full time fitters at Portess that have been fitting carpets for many years and one contracted fitter for when we are extremely busy or need a helping hand.
